The remove option can be useful if you have moderators who are no longer active on the site or in your community. You'll see the remove option at the bottom of the menu that pops up once you've clicked the pencil icon: To remove a mod, you click on the pencil icon on the far right (as shown below) and click "remove." This list will include your own account and the accounts of any moderators below you. To do this, look for the list of moderators you can edit at the bottom of the moderators page. If you are above another moderator in the list of mods and have the correct permissions, you will have the ability to remove that moderator.

Please note that to invite a new moderator, you must first have the "everything" permission as a mod of the community you are inviting them to. Be sure to get familiar with the permissions (outlined later in this article) before adding new mods. They will then receive a message letting them know that they have been invited to moderate your community, but they will have to accept the invitation before being added to your list of mods. Select "invite user as mod," enter their username, select the permissions they will need, and click the "invite" button. To invite a new mod, click “moderators” in your user mod tool menu. You can also look to communities like r/needamod, but make sure you check a prospective mod’s account history before making a decision to add them to your team. You might consider making an announcement in your subreddit that you're looking for new moderators. If you’re ready to grow your mod team, a good first step is to look to your existing community for active and knowledgeable people you trust. Finding a solid team of moderators who are passionate about your community can help it thrive.

Everyone is also free to vent here as long as the posts have meaningful content and they aren't super offensive. The "moderators" section of your user management tools is where you can add new moderators, remove existing moderators, and update the permissions of the members of your community’s mod team.Īs a community grows and changes, so do the tasks involved in moderating. So everyone is free to vent there without fearing a ban from our side. I think that everyone has a right to express their support, opinions and critique in a way they feel suitable. I'm pretty sure have I never during these 3 years deleted any messages on reddit. We are hanging around in case all our mods decide that they want to quit playing videogames or they get run over by a car (this car example is used often at the office when we talk about how all needed info should be available for others, and during one of our game announcements there actually was a minor incident that involved a Frozenbyte employee and a car.). Neither of us does any moderation on reddit, but I did just use the tools to add a link to the sidebar. The ones still hanging around are Kai from marketing and myself from support. The amount of Frozenbyte moderators on r/starbase has now decreased to two. You be amazed how many large subreddits have attempted to turn it into heavy moderated forum like system. If people not happy with posts they downvote them. But humans are humans and unless everyone signing their life away and personal info and even then it's just not worth the risk overall.Īlso on the moderation I agree 100%. Once again these mods are great and I don't want them to think I'm saying other wise.
#ALL THE MODS SUBREDDIT FULL#
Look at subreddits like WoW, NMS, and many other games where the mods of those subreddits went full out crazy. We don't give them powers that can just snap out of the blue and cause us a lot of damage. They don't have anything really besides kick, ban, teleport, etc. It's one the reasons why all my game servers are very limited access for mods in them. I seen people who were perfect and amazing people for several years and then all the sudden a switch goes off on them. Are they all using 2 Step authentication? Are their brains matured and I mean scientifically people can change a lot in their teens, late teens and even 20's to early 30's. I mean nothing wrong with these mods and their decent people so far. This sort of why I made the argument before and now even though I was caving in because people don't really agree with me on these points.
